Jouvans improved audience research

1

I found out the male and female who participated in my audience research believed that they would be attracted to a teaser trailer if it included non diegetic music, due to this my groups teaser trailer might include non diegetic music as it is a feature which attracts audiences. They dissagree that  films which show less film footage is enticing and because of this my groups teaser trailer might use some film footage but not too much to give away the story's plot. They also believe that they would be attracted to a horror film if it challenged horror conventions. They have a difference in views of whether captions or voice notes are enticing in teaser trailers and whether teaser trailers are equally as important as posters and magazines.

Elizabeth's audience research

As part of the pre-production process, each member of our group conducted a survey asking a few people a number of questions so we could get an insight on the best way to construct our coursework. We all asked the same six questions and decided that we would ask an extra one of our choice. This is the unique question I came up with:

7) What was the last horror movie you watched and how did you find it?

I asked this question so that I could find out about some more horror movies and which ones worked well and which ones didn’t. This is helpful so that my group and I know what to avoid and what to adapt into our own productions. These are the questions I asked my audience:

I asked five different people and I got different responses which was good. Generally there were similar answers to the sixth question ‘What colours do you think are suitable for a horror film poster?’ Most people said red and mainly dark colours like black. Below are print screens of people’s responses to my questionnaire:

1)

This person said they would expect a teaser trailer to be a maximum of 2-3 minutes, this indicates they don’t know what a teaser trailer is. This is understandable as many people are only common with trailers.

2)

This has reminded me about how it is important for a teaser trailer to grab the audiences’ attention.

3)

Yet another person has said a teaser trailer should be two minutes which is definitely two long as conventionally a good teaser trailer is not up to two minutes long.

Jouvans audience research

I conducted my audience research by asking four people the following questions on the social networking site 'Twitter'.
  1. How old are you?
  2. What's your gender?
  3. What genre of films do you enjoy the most?
  4. How long do you expect a teaser trailer to be?
  5. What do expect to see within a horror teaser trailer?
  6. What colours do you think are suitable for a horror poster?
  7. Would you prefer a teaser trailer to include fast or slow paced music?

Once my audience research was collected i released that the feedback I was provided with was inadequate and not as informative as I wanted it to be. In addition the audience research questions I asked weren't of a high standard as some of the questions I asked had no significant relation to horror. Therefore I decided to produce an improved questionnaire where i would use better questions and get better responses.

Harry's Audience Research

As part of our audience research, we decided to ask friends a set of questions in order to gather information on what things they like to see within a horror movie or just basically what they expect.
We all agreed to use the first 6 questions in all of our research. Those six questions were;

How old are you?
What is the gender?
What genre of films do you enjoy the most?
How long do you expect a teaser trailer to be?
What do you expect to see within a horror teaser trailer?
What colours do you think are suitable for a horror poster?

For the last question, of all our research, it would be a question we came up with individual. Reason being that the last question would add originality and just help our research to be a bit different come each others.

I've got results by asking these questions on the social networking site that is 'Facebook'. I asked these questions by just simply inboxing, whoever I wanted to ask, and then screen shoting what they said and putting the picture on this blog post.

Logo research

Logos are an important feature in filming. Logos are used to represent a filming company and are uniquely designed in order for them to be easily identified. There are two types of filming companies, these companies are the mainstream and the independent . The mainstream companies include Universal, Warner Bros, Paramount, Walt Disney, 20th century fox and Columbia and the independent companies include Pixar, New line cinema and Paramount Vantage to name a few of many independent companies.Film company logos are displayed at the beginning of the film for the audience to know who produced, distributed or marketed the film.

List of props

Below are a list of the props in which we, Slasher Inc, will use to create our teaser trailer;

Bed:
Fundamentally, 'the bed' can be seen as one of the most important props in our trailer. Reason being that the whole idea of the trailer is based on thoughts and dreams (which happen most when you're asleep) hence why a bed is very important as this will be where we see our main character for the first time and where are story line develops from.

Chains:
Chains play a vital role in our trailer as they'll be what is used to hold our main character hostage during her tormenting ordeal.
